If we have learned anything in 2020, it is how powerful we can be with the support of others from near and far. When it comes to Indigenous peoples fighting for their land and their rights, the people who tend to relate the most are other natives who are facing similar situations in their respective region of the world. Throughout movements such as Standing Rock and Protect Mauna Kea, bonds have been formed that are as unshakable as mountains, and these relationships have been instrumental to everyone involved. The deep bond and support that can be seen between LaDonna Brave Bull Allard and Pua Case, the two individuals photographed, is an amazing example of the power that can come from strong native women supporting and advocating for each other. In order to protect your sacred land and native rights, you have to have a good foundation of people who support you and understand what you’re going through or what you’re faced with.
